Andrew J. Morgan PhD FCOptom
Dr Andrew Morgan completed his Batchelor of Science in Optometry at the City University, London before finishing optometrist training at the Colchester Eye Hospital. After working at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Oxford Eye Hospital and private practice, he specialised in contact lenses and binocular vision anomalies for which he was awarded a Fellowship to the College of Optometrists in 1994. In 2003, Andrew received a Doctorate in research following his completion of a PhD looking into the role of circulation in glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. He has had papers published in the journals British Journal of Ophthalmology and Glaucoma. Working with the Local Optometric Committee, Andrew was instrumental in the setting up of the community based Diabetic Eye Screening Service in Oxfordshire.
Andrew lives in North Oxford with his wife, Lisa, and their two sons. He enjoys cycling and snowboarding.
Lisa C. Morgan BSc MCOptom
Lisa Morgan completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry at Aston University, Birmingham before finishing her optometrist training at the Oxford Eye Hospital. Following many years working for Melson Wingate Opticians and the Optometry Dept at City University, London, she joined Morgan White Optometrists in 2006 to work with her husband, Andrew. Lisa continues to work part-time at the Oxford Eye Hospital where she specialises in colour vision assessment, low vision work and children’s vision problems. She has been awarded two certificates for further training in glaucoma and paediatric eyecare.
Lisa lives in North Oxford with her husband, Andrew, and their two sons. She enjoys helping with her son’s football team teas and eating cakes!
Kathy Gabbatiss BSc MCOptom
Kathy Gabbatiss completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry at UMIST, Manchester. Having worked both in private practice and at the Oxford Eye Hospital, Kathy has a reputation for her thorough, clinical eye examinations. Kathy lives in Wootton by Woodstock, Oxfordshire with her husband and son.
Kathy enjoys poetry and laughing.
Astra Smith FBDO
Astra Smith completed her dispensing optician qualification in 2000 and is registered with the General Optical Council. Her experience and knowledge of optical lens design allows her to provide individualized advice on the best spectacle lens form for each patient. Astra’s flare for fashion and her perfectionism combine to make her golden rule that all her patients requiring spectacles leave with stylish, comfortable glasses. Astra lives in South Warwickshire with her husband.
Astra enjoys caravanning and chocolate.
Mrs Florence Hackett
Florence completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry at City University. Originally she had trained in her Swiss family’s optometrist business as a dispensing optician and became an examiner for dispensing exams. She studied to become an optometrist here and has worked in various independent practices as well as a Low Vision Clinic. She has been awarded certificates from City University for further training in Therapeutics, low Vision and Contact lenses.
She is fluent in French, English and can speak basic German. She enjoys Tae kwon-Do and photography.
Miss Sweata Shah
Miss Sweata Shah completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry at Cardiff University and then finished her professional training at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She continued to work at Moorfields in both the specialist contact lens and visual assessment departments, before transferring to Oxford Eye Hospital in 2007. She works three days a week at the Eye Hospital, seeing many contact lens patients, children and those with reduced vision, and one day a week at Morgan White optometrists.
She enjoys climbing and socialising.
Miss Dearbhail O’Neill
Miss Dearbhail O’Neill completed her Bachelor of Science in Optometry at the University of Ulster and then finished her professional training at Colchester Hospital. Since then she has worked full time at Oxford Eye Hospital, seeing many contact lens patients, children and those with reduced vision. She enjoys working a few Saturday mornings at Morgan White.
She enjoys playing camogie, an Irish team sport, and singing.
Miss Hayley Brunsden
Hayley is in her second year of study for the dispensing Diploma with day release at the City and Islington College, London. Previously she studied accountancy, but decided to change career as she wanted to pursue a profession that involved directly helping people with her natural aptitude for mathematics.
She enjoys dancing and supports Watford FC.
