Our Professional Fees
At Morgan White Optometrists we believe value is being given the best individual advice and care possible by expert staff, none of whom is on sales-based commission.
Private Eye Examination: £29.00
Your optometrist determines your spectacle prescription and assesses the health of your eyes. Individual patient care requires appropriate eye tests and therefore your eye examination may include pupil dilation, digital retinal photography, eye pressures and/or visual field screening. These will be at no charge if conducted on the same day.
NHS Sight Test: Free
The current NHS Sight Test does not cover all procedures in a full private eye examination and your optometrist will advise you on any additional procedures he or she recommends along with their fee. Check your NHS Eligibility
Contact Lens Fitting: £40.00*
Assuming an initial eye examination has already been conducted. The fitting fee covers the assessment, trial, insertion and removal training, and hygiene instruction to determine which contact lenses are most suitable for you.
*The £40.00 fee assumes standard contact lens fitting. More complex fittings are charged at higher fee.
Contact Lens Check: £40.00
Goldmann Tonometry: £12.00
A ‘gold-standard’ method of measuring the eye’s pressure. It is used in the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma. A drop of short-acting anaesthetic is used in the eye and a special instrument gently touches the eye with a disposable probe that does not hurt.
Digital Retinal Photography: £25.00
This may be included in a private eye examination at no charge
BiOptic Telescope Assessment: £65.00
An hour-long appointment to assess and trial a low vision patient with a BiOptic Telescope.
Joint Aviation Authority Ophthalmology Vision Assessment: £40.00
For pilots requiring Class I or Class II JAA medical certificates, we provide examinations and reports.
Eyecare Plan
A monthly payment of £8.00 covers you for all appointments and allows you to purchase spectacles and contact lenses at greatly discounted prices.
Emergency Eye Examination: £35.00
If you have a sudden change in vision or an acute problem with your eye and need to be seen the same day, a practitioner may be able to see you in their break time. Alternatively, the Oxford Eye Hospital eye emergency number is: 01865 234800.
Dispensing Appointment (for spectacles purchased elsewhere): £25.00
